Owned by Dutch-Turkish partners, Mithra Travel focuses on small locally owned accommodations and experiences to create more authentic walking tours.

Mithra Travel offers a wide variety of adventure and cultural tours so if you only want walking holidays you’ll want to focus on their Walking and Biking Tours. Unfortunately, there’s no way to filter out biking or separate guided from self-guided, so it takes a bit of work to navigate this site. They divide these tours into 7 routes or regions:
- Lycian way
- St Paul’s Trail
- Carian Trail
- Phrygian Way
- Cappadocia
- Troy Culture Route (Sufi Trail)
- Black Sea (Kaçkar Mountains)
Once you click on one of these routes, it’s easy to see which are guided or self-guided and their difficulty rating. Trip details include everything you need plus suggestions for extra nights or activities. They don’t list actual lodging for tours but they do designate the type of lodging.

There is cross-over with Mithra Travel and Middle Earth Travel – both cover Lycian Way, St. Paul and Carian Trail. Both are respected local companies that earn our LOCAL CHOICE for walking holidays in Turkey, but Mithra Travel’s site isn’t as easy to search and they don’t have nearly as many online reviews. This is not uncommon as many tour operators get their customers from larger third-party companies, but it does make it more difficult to discern current satisfaction levels. For this reason, we recommend Mithra Travel for tours not already offered by Middle Earth Travel.
