Macs Adventure is a Scottish company with satellite offices in Colorado and Germany specializing in self-guided walking, hiking, biking or pilgrimage trips. They do offer some guided trips but their focus on independent over guided trips is what sets them apart from other large operators. If you want a global selection of destinations and you don’t want group travel, this company is a great choice.
Review of Macs Adventure Website
Macs Adventure has a great site design, easy to navigate and full of useful information. It’s easy to browse and they have excellent search filters. Start with destination first or click on the “Find My Adventure” button which then lets you filter however you wish. Filters include price, multiple activities (including wildlife, cultural and water sports), fitness level and accommodation levels. You can narrow your walking routes by inn to inn hiking, hut to hut, camp to camp, rail, self-drive, single center or pilgrim hike. If that’s not enough, you can search by interests (foodie, whiskey, spiritual, wellness, coastal, etc).
Macs gives the names of actual accommodations for most trips and you’ll find it under the Itinerary. No links to the lodging websites (which is a shame), but we’re just so grateful they reveal the lodging!
